Manhattan Project

Statistics report on the Manhattan Project and nuclear attacks

Manhattan Project

This report presents a range of statistics relating to the Manhattan Project and the atomic attacks on Japan. The Manhattan Project led to the creation of the world's first nuclear weapons, which were then used against Japan and were instrumental in bringing the world's deadliest war to an end. This remains the only time in history where nuclear weapons were used in warfare, although it kickstarted a new era of nuclear proliferation during the Cold War, with far-reaching geopolitical consequences that remain important to this day. This report includes chapters relating to the funding of the project, the effects of the atomic attacks on Japan and nuclear weapons in general, as well as modern attitudes to the attacks in the United States.
