Youth in Spain

Statista overview report on youth in Spain

Youth in Spain

The youth in Spain faces a series of interwoven problems that may have severe repercussion through their adult life, even widening social inequality in the country in the near future. The idea that each generation should be better off than their parents may no longer be true in Spain. High unemployment rates, low salaries, poor working conditions and low saving rates are widespread problems among young people. Their capacity to find stable and well-paid jobs is limited and forces them to push back other major steps in life, such as becoming independent, getting a house, or establishing a family. These issues are prompting major changes in Spain, from a tenancy structure that is shifting from owners to renters, to political polarization or new migratory trends.

This report examines the socioeconomic reality of millennials and, to a lesser extent, centennials in Spain, considering issues that have become embedded in Spain and that mark the widening generational gap in the country.
