This statistic shows the distribution of cars in the Italian capital Rome in 2017, according to the European emission standards. That year, Euro 4 vehicles made up nearly a third of the vehicles circulating in the region. Euro 6 cars, the least polluting category, represented 16 percent of the total.

*The European emission standards define emission limits for vehicles. The most stringent one, the Euro 6 standards, were introduced for light vehicles in September 2014. Since 2015, all newly introduced models in Europe had to comply with them. By contrast, Euro 0 vehicles are not subject to any emission requirements and are the most polluting category.
