Number of 5-star hotels Dubai 2015-2023

The number of 5-star hotels in the emirate of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) reached 157 hotels in 2023. The number of 5-star hotels in the city climbed steadily throughout the analyzed period.

Following the COVID-19 outbreak, hotels in the emirate showed signs of recovery. The occupancy rate of 5-star hotels in Dubai reached around 70 percent in 2022. The number of hotel rooms and serviced apartments in Dubai was estimated to increase to 145 thousand room keys by 2023. Several hotel projects are currently under development in Dubai. Over half of the city’s upcoming hotel projects fall under the luxury segment, while the rest comprise first-class establishments. Nearly 75 percent of the hotel projects were planned to be completed by the end of 2023.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is well-known for its opulent and growing hotel business, with each emirate providing guests with a distinct experience. The revenue generated by the hotel industry in the UAE varies among the different emirates. The highest average daily rates across the UAE were in the emirates of Dubai and Ras-Al-Khaimah (RAK). Most of the hotel industry’s revenue in the UAE was generated through room revenue, followed by food and beverages, almost reaching 9.5 million UAE dirhams in 2021.
