In 1965, the European Union's generation of nuclear energy amounted to 4.5 terawatt-hours. By 2005, this had increased to a peak of approximately 916.4 terawatt-hours. Since then, nuclear energy generation has generally been in decline, and by 2023 it had fallen to 619.4 terawatt-hours.
