According to a study published on May 2020, the average spending on baby food varied between approximately 9.8 percent and 18.2 percent of the total expenditure during pregnancy and a child's first year of life, in a group of selected Latin American countries. Argentina was the country with the highest share. As of that date, average spending on the newborns first year in the South American country attained more than 3.2 thousand U.S. dollars.
