Out-of-pocket expenditure as share of health spending in Mexico 2010-2021
In 2021, Mexico's out-of-pocket health payments from households accounted for 41 percent of the total health expenditure in the country, up from approximately 39 percent registered a year prior. This figure decreased by about three percentage points compared to 2010, when out-of-pocket expenditure represented 44 percent of the total health spending in the country. As of the last year depicted, Mexican households allocated approximately 32 billion U.S. dollars to health care.
