This statistic presents the results of a survey of British adults, which asked them if they thought that a girl who ran away to join ISIS should be allowed to return to the United Kingdom in 2019, by age group. In every age group surveyed, a majority of respondents said that the girl in question should not be allowed to return. The size of this majority increased based on the respondents age, with 59 percent of 18-24 year old's believing she should not be allowed to return, compared with 82 percent of over 65s.
Should a girl who ran away to join ISIS be allowed to return to the United Kingdom?*
* This question was phrased by the source as follows: "One of the three Bethnal Green school girls who ran away to join the Islamic State four years ago has been interviewed by the Times from a refugee camp in Syria, while 9 months pregnant. She says she has no regrets, but following the deaths of her two children, she wants to return to the U.K. so her child will be safe. Should she be allowed to return to the U.K., or not?"
** Results are weighted to be representative of the GB population.
