This statistic shows the number of respondents in Malaysia who indicated that they have experienced racial discrimination when renting property as of January 2019. During the period surveyed, 21 percent of survey respondents claimed that they have experienced racial discrimination during the process of renting a property. Out of the respondents who have faced racial discrimination when renting, 46 percent were ethnically Indian. In comparison, 18 percent were ethnically Malay/Bumiputera.

The question asked in the survey was as follows: "Thinking about your experience(s) during the start-to-end process of renting a property...Have you, at any point, faced any discrimination along the way?"
The three main ethnic/racial groups in Malaysia are the Malays/Bumiputeras, Chinese and Indians.
