In Chile, the FONASA, a public health coverage scheme, covered approximately 78.8 percent of women and 73.9 percent of men in 2020. That year, around 95 percent of women and 94 percent of men were covered by the Chilean health system, either by a public or private health coverage scheme. In 2020, approximately 15.4 percent of the Chilean population was insured by ISAPRE, a private health coverage provider.

The figures are based on a survey among 185,437 people. Respondents were either a member of the household aged 18 years and older or the principal household member.
Fonasa stands for Fondo Nacional de Salud; it is a public institution.
Isapre stands for Instituciones de Salud Provisional; it is a private institution.
FF.AA. stands for armed forces; Chile has established a special insurance scheme for their armed forces.
