FDI confidence index 2024

In 2024, the United States had a foreign direct investment (FDI) confidence index score of 2.3, the highest in the world. Of the 25 highest ranked countries, six were so-called emerging economies. Of the emerging economies, China had the third highest ranking overall, with a score of 2.21. The FDI confidence index ranks the likelihood of companies making a FDI in a given country.

The FDI confidence index is calculated as a weighted average of the number of high, medium, and low responses to questions regarding the likelihood of making a direct investment in the market over the next three years. Values are calculated on a scale of 0 to 3, with 3 being the highest level of confidence in a market for Foreign Direct Investment, and 0 being the lowest level of confidence.
