This statistic presents the results of a survey on perceived leading causes of death through interpersonal violence in New Zealand as of October 2018. According to data published by Ipsos, around 30 percent of kiwi respondents thought that most people killed through interpersonal violence in 2015 died from sharp objects such as knives, when the actual share of knife victims in 2015 was around 34 percent of all violent deaths in New Zealand.

The original survey question was phrased as follows:
"Thinking about people who are killed by other people in New Zealand in 2015, do you think more people were killed by firearms, sharp objects such as knives or other physical violence? Choose the one option that you think resulted in the most deaths."
