Estimated and actual share of women sexually harassed in Netherlands and Belgium 2018

The statistic displays the results of a 2018 survey question conducted by Ipsos regarding the perceived and actual share of women in the Netherlands and Belgium who have experienced sexual harassment since the age of 15.
60 percent of women in Belgium indicated that they had experienced some form of sexual harassment since the age of 15, while in the Netherlands, this figure increased to roughly 75 percent. The survey results suggest that as of 2018, there was a significant gap between public perception and reality concerning sexual harassment in both countries, with respondents underestimating the share of women who have experienced sexual harassment by up to 35 percent.
