This statistic shows the result of a study on the investment focus of pharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing organizations in Italy from 2016 to 2021. The shares were calculated as an average of the investments that have already been carried out between 2016 and 2017 and the planned investments up to 2021. A glance at the graph reveals how energy efficiency was the main investment field for CDMOs. Indeed, 78 percent of the investments were allocated for measures and technologies aimed at making industry processes more sustainable such as reduction of waste and lowering of energy and water consumption.
