In 2014, the number of employees in the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply industry in Turkey increased by 6,154 employees (+7.68 percent) since 2013. Therefore, the number of employees in Turkey reached a peak in 2014 with 86,303 employees. Notably, the number of employees in this industry continuously increased over the last years. According to Eurostat employed persons are all persons aged 15 and over who performed work, even for just one hour per week, for pay, profit or family gain during the reference week or were not at work but had a job or business from which they were temporarily absent because of, for instance, illness, holidays, industrial dispute, and education or training.

The source adds the following information: 'Number of employees is defined as those persons who work for an employer and who have a contract of employment and receive compensation in the form of wages, salaries, fees, gratuities, piecework pay or remuneration in kind.
