During the survey period, word of mouth or recommendations as recruitment method for managers was rated by dining venues with an average score of 3.43 on a scale between 1 (never use) and 5 (always use), compared to a score of 3.59 as a method for recruiting casual staff in dining venues.

*Venues include restaurants, cafes, pubs and clubs throughout Australia.
Respondents were asked about preferred recruitment methods for managers
and casual staff, on a rating of ‘1 = never use’ to ‘5 = always use’. Ratings are the result of an average out of five across all venue types.
