During the surveyed time period between August 2016 and February 2017, the largest share of respondents, amounting to approximately 26 percent, had stated that they were exposed to second had smoke in Public places. The lowest exposure to second hand smoking, surprisingly, was reported at night clubs.
In view with discouraging people from smoking, the Central Government of the south Asian nation had proposed increased taxes on cigarettes in its Union Budget for fiscal year 2020, leading to shares of the country's largest tobacco manufacturer, ITC, to fall to a new low.
