In 2023, approximately 3.03 million people attended K League 1 football matches in South Korea. Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, which heavily impacted the spectator sports market, spectator numbers in 2020 and 2021 had dropped below one million. Showing strong signs of recovery, 2023 saw the league have its highest amount of spectators in the past two decades, tied with 2011. Similar developments could be seen in the domestic baseball and volleyball leagues that year.
