This statistic displays the results of a 2018 survey asking individuals if they would want the choice to end their own life if they were diagnosed with a terminal illness under the terms of a proposed assisted dying law in Great Britain. 49 percent of respondents answered that they would definitely want to be given the choice to die if they were diagnosed with a terminal illness, while a further 29 percent said that they probably would want the choice.

* The original question was worded as follows: "Would you personally want the choice to end your own life, under the terms of the proposed new law, if you were diagnosed with a terminal illness, or not?"
The proposed law "would allow terminally ill, mentally competent people who are advised that they have six months or less to live, to request medication to end their own lives."
