This statistic shows the answers to a survey question on which purchase channels are used for games in the Netherlands in 2017. The most popular method used among respondents was free games online. The source does not indicate, however, if this solely concerns video games like League of Legends or Fortnite or also includes free online casino games or free to play apps, such as Pokémon GO.
Video-on-demand, or VOD, is increasing in the Netherlands. Netflix is the biggest provider of video streaming in the Netherlands with approximately 2.4 households having subscribed to the service. The Netherlands also has several domestic VOD providers. Videoland , owned by RTL Nederland, reaches roughly 400,000 households.
