By January 2023, the Real Estate Regulation Authority (RERA) of Maharashtra in India had registered 38,643 real estate projects. RERAs have been implemented in most of the 36 Indian states and union territories after the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act of 2016 came into force. The act aims at protecting the rights of home buyers.
