This statistic represents the results of a survey conducted among people in Taiwan in January 2018 about their national identity. When allocation method was used during the survey, majority of the respondents, 51.5 percent, replied that they considered themselves being both Taiwanese and Chinese.

*The survey divided 1,410 respondents into two groups: one used the fixed choice method and the other group used a point allocation method.
The fixed choice group answered the question: "Do you consider yourself Taiwanese; Chinese; Taiwanese but also Chinese; or Chinese but also Taiwanese?"
The point allocation method group answered the question: "If you had ten points to represent the composition of your identity, how many points would you allocate to being Taiwanese, how many to being Chinese?".
