The number of movie theater seats in the Netherlands increased annually between 2009 and 2017. At the beginning of the time frame considered, there were just over 6,000 theater seats in the Netherlands, whereas in 2017, the number of seats peaked at 10,700 seats. The number of movie theater seats in the Netherlands remained unchanged in 2018.

The number of cinemas/movie theaters, screens and seats is based on member base (as of January 1st 2019) excluding travelling and open air cinemas (in 2018:3) and the movie theaters without weekly programs (in 2018, incl. 12 internal film theaters: 78 film houses with 69 screens and 11,700 seats).
