As of 2018, in comparison to 2015 FSIN (FoodService Instituut Nederland) forecasted an increase in market share for all food market branches in the Netherlands by 2025, with the exception of the mainstream food market. Whilst mainstream food is forecast to continue to hold the largest share in the food market, its share is expected to decrease from 72 to 46 percent between 2015 and 2025. Quality discount is forecast to account for the largest food market share held by non-mainstream food market sectors, whereas the premium, food and lifestyle sector is expected to hold the smallest share of the food market by 2025, at just below ten percent.
