This statistic shows what people in Great Britain believe are the most effective policy responses to reducing the use of non-recyclable product waste, such as some plastics, as of March 2019. According to data published by IPSOS, 48 percent of respondents believe that higher taxes on supermarkets and shops that use a lot of non-recyclable packaging would be an effective policy. Only 20 percent of respondents think that a public-information campaign would be an effective policy.
Which if any of the following do you think would be effective at reducing the problems caused by unnecessary use of plastic and packaging that cannot be recycled?
* Respondents from 28 countries around the world. Approximately 1,000 individuals aged between 18 and 74 years were surveyed in Great Britain. Where results do not sum to 100 or the ‘difference’ appears to be+-1 more/less than the actual, this may be due to rounding, multiple responses or the exclusion of don't knows or not stated responses.
