The value of contracts awarded within the global oilfield service industry declined to 446 billion U.S. dollars in 2020. This was the lowest value in 16 years and a decrease of nearly 200 billion U.S. dollars compared to the previous year, owing to the rapid demand decline for oil following the coronavirus pandemic and resulting travel restrictions.
