In 2022, more than 13,000 boys and over 10,000 girls under the age of 15 had to be admitted to hospitals across Peru due to diseases of the respiratory system. The age group with the second-highest number of cases were individuals over the age of 50, with almost 10,000 women and over 9,000 men hospitalized. That year, diseases of the respiratory system were some of the main causes of hospitalization in Peru.
