As the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic hit the travel and tourism industries hard in 2020, the expenditure of Norwegian travelers on outbound trips fell sharply in 2020 over the previous year. In the fourth quarter of 2020, the outbound tourist spending amounted to 0.54 billion Norwegian kroner, whereas it added up to nearly 20 billion Norwegian kroner in the same period of 2019.
