Between the school years 2001/02 and 2022/23, the share of lower secondary school (middle school) students with disabilities in Italy increased considerably. As a matter of fact, during the school year 2001/02 the share of students with disabilities attending middle school amounted to 2.6 percent, while in the school year 2022/23 the share raised up to five percent.
