This statistic shows the number of incidences of cervical cancer in Sweden in selected years from 1980 to 2016. Until 2011, the number of incidences in Sweden decreased, but increased ever since, amounting to 11.47 cases per hundred thousand women in 2016. The number of deaths from cervical cancer in Sweden has decreased. While there were 5.7 deaths per hundred thousand women reported in 1980, the number had fallen to 2.4 deaths in 2016.
In Sweden, screening for cervical cancer has been happening since the 1960s. Since 2012, a free vaccination against cervical cancer is offered to girls in the age of 16 to 18 as part of the national vaccination program.
