What are the most popular eco-friendly activities among Italian tourists? In 2017, it was going on excursions with local guides. Indeed, tourists who claimed to go on excursions with local guides accounted for roughly 57 percent of all respondents. Similarly, 55 percent of interviewees claimed to prefer public over private transport when on holiday.
The reasons behind the eco-friendly tourism
In 2017, most Italian tourists chose to go on a green holiday to reduce the environmental impact. Anyhow, there could be a series of different reasons behind the choice of an eco-friendly holiday. For instance, Italian tourists claimed that discovering the local cultural and gastronomy as well as getting in touch with nature were other important reasons for choosing to go on an eco-friendly trip over the period considered.
