The coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis has lead to a wide spread lockdown and disruption of normal business activities worldwide and in Europe. While it is early to say what the consequences of the pandemic will be, one of the early indicators we can follow is the performance of the stock market.
As of April 2020, real estate investment trusts (REITs) in Europe saw a loss in performance of 30 percent since the beginning of the year. From the three countries in focus, German REITs suffered the lowest drop of 16 percent, while French REITs suffered the highest of 35 percent.
