The consumption of shrimps and prawns represents the highest for the group of fish formed by seafood in Spain. In 2021, their consumption increased regarding previous years and that placed in figures of eight years ago in 2014, around 1.94 kilos per person. In contrast, the consumption of hake and whiting, the type of fish most consumed in Spain, maintains a negative trend.

Due to the census published by the INE, the data for 2013 were recalculated and, from that year onwards, a new series not comparable with previous data is started.
The 2013 data includes from December 2012 to November 2013.
