Offices along stores and malls were the most attractive real estate assets for SOCIMIs listed in the MAB during the first years of the analyzed period. However, in 2018 and 2019 residential properties ranked as the asset with the highest investment volume. SOCIMIs invested over five million euros in residential properties in both years, which supposed approximately 30 percent of total investment.

SOCIMI (Listed Companies in Real Estate Markets) are companies whose main activity is the acquisition, promotion and rehabilitation of urban assets for leasing. Societies are listed on the regulated market and enjoy very favorable tax treatment. These listed companies are the result of adapting the European regulations applicable to REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust) to the Spanish market.
