Turnover in the German geothermal energy industry oscillated over the years, peaking at 200 million euros in 2013. In 2015, geothermal energy industry generated 80 million euros, half of the amount generated in the year prior. By 2016, figures rose to 150 million euros, dropping in 2016 to 70 million euros. In 2018, geothermal energy industry revenue declined further, at 40 million euros. In that same year, the 28 European Union members generated a total of 1,020 million euros.
