In the period from 2013 to 2016, the number of IKEA stores in Sweden grew from 19 to 20 stores. As of 2018, the internationally known home furniture retailer from Sweden operated a total of 280 IKEA stores throughout the European continent and 422 stores all over the world. IKEA today is the world’s largest furniture retailer, recognized for its characteristic Scandinavian style. Most of IKEA's furniture is flat-pack, ready to be assembled by the consumer.
