This statistic shows the geographical scope of the private banking sector in Luxembourg from 2011 to 2016, by area of origin of client assets. In 2016, approximately 23 percent of clients in private banking in Luxembourg came from EU countries other than Luxembourg itself or neighboring countries Belgium, France and Germany. This is in increase from the 20 percent in 2015.
Due to its financial sector and legal structure, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is an attractive place for both foreign investments and private clients. In 2016 though, Luxembourg was the country with the highest risk index score of money laundering and terrorist financing in the Benelux.
