This statistic illustrates the share of reasons for owning a landline phone besides a cellular phone in the United Kingdom (UK) in 2017. The highest share of respondents, that corresponded to 43 percent, stated that they owned landline phones because of less expensive call rates, whereas 39 percent of respondents stated that they had a landline phone to call people who don't have a cellphone. In recent years, the main method of making and receiving telephone calls at home was using a mobile phone, while the use of landline phones decreased. In addition, the share of households owning only fixed phones was small compared to households owning fixed and mobile phones.
