Frequency of eating breakfast among Canadian consumers 2019

Some 58.3 percent of Canadians stated that they eat breakfast every day in a survey carried out by ProdegeMR in January of 2019. Whilst considered by some to be the most important meal of the day, just over six percent of survey respondents stated that they never eat breakfast. Time could be an issue for some consumers, as nine percent of Canadians only eat breakfast on the weekend.

Canadian breakfast preferences

For those Canadians who do eat breakfast, there are some clear preferences when it comes to what to eat in the morning. According to a recent survey, bagels are the type of breakfast sandwich bread preferred by over one quarter of Canadians. Croissants and English muffins were ranked in second and third places, each with a around 16 percent of the vote. When it comes to favored cereal toppings, fresh fruit came out on top as the favorite addition, followed by yogurt and dried fruit.

Eating locations

Home is the preferred location to consume breakfast for most Canadians - almost 82 percent of consumers stated that they eat their breakfast at home. Work is the second most popular eating location followed by on-the-go.
