In 2016, Carbonates, which include cola, lemonade and flavored fizzy drinks, had the highest sales value of all soft drinks in the UK at 1.3 billion British pounds. This was closely followed by juice and juice drinks at 1.29 billion British pounds.
Soft drinks market
Soft drinks are usually all water-based drinks without alcohol and added sugar. Bottled water is sometimes included in the definition. Worldwide, the soft drink market is dominated by carbonated soft drinks. This however doesn’t hold true for the UK market, where non-carbonated drinks hold a bigger share of the market.
Trends on the UK market
In the UK market, the consumption volume per person has been falling since 2010 and a continuation of the trend has been forecasted. Growing revenues can be attributed to the growing price per unit, because total consumption volume has not and is not forecast to increase it can’t explain the increasing market revenues.
