More than five million students were enrolled in higher education in Mexico in the academic year 2023/24. Of these, the largest quantity of students – over 900,000 – were registered in universities or other higher education institutions in Mexico City. The second Mexican federal entity with most students enrolled in higher education was the state of Mexico, with over 604,000 people.
