In 2019, hotels were the most popular accommodation among Italian outbound tourists. Data show that 38 percent of Italian tourists travelling abroad chose this type of accommodation for their trips. Moreover, roughly 30 percent of outbound travelers stayed in home of relatives or friends during their trips abroad.

Specialized collective facilities include: residences for physical/beauty treatment, volunteer work camps and holiday camps, places in means of public transport (couchettes, sleeping cars, etcetera), congress and conference centers.
Other collective facilities include: holiday villages, campsites, marinas, and other collective facilities.
2020 data for "Personally owned home, timeshare property" was not available.
