The price index for domestic appliances increased by about 34 percent from the base financial year of 2012. An overall increase in the price index was noted over the years from financial year 2013 in the country.

The Wholesale Price Index or WPI determines the price of wholesale goods, focusing on trade between corporations rather than goods bought by consumers. WPI monitors the movements of supply and demand in industry, manufacturing and construction.
India's financial year begins in April and ends in March. For example, FY 2012 started in April 2011 and ended in March 2012.
