Domestic Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) in Belgium were expected to reach a value of approximately 53 billion U.S. dollars. Increasing confidence helped mergers and acquisitions to rise higher than expected in previous years. Reasons for this included an improving labor market, rising intra EU-trade and growing business investment. Note, however, that this prediction for 2020 was made before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
