The volume of municipal biodegradable waste has sorted in Italy increased steadily over the past 10 years, despite dropping slightly in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, it amounted to approximately 12 million metric tons, an increase of over 40 percent compared to 2012.
