The main result that Italian companies had obtained or were expecting to obtain from an Internet of Things (IoT) project was increasing efficiency within operations management. As of 2016, nearly one in two companies expected such results from IoT implementation. The second main benefit according to companies was the possibility to come up with new services from the data generated by the IoT sensors.
