In 2021, Hilti made over 5.9 billion Swiss francs in net sales. The Liechtenstein-based manufacturing company provides tools, safety systems, software and other value-added solutions for the construction industry.
Hilti’s net sales grew by nearly 48 percent between 2011 and 2019, with 2015 marking the only year when figures declined. In 2020 however, due to the coronavirus pandemic, Hilti's net sales decreased again.

Hilti’s increase in output also translated into a rise in employment figures. As of 2021, it employed over 31,100 people worldwide. That same year, the company spent 373 million Swiss francs on research and development.

Global production of machine tools was worth 60.3 billion U.S. dollars in 2020. The market noticeably declined between 2012 and 2016, before increasing again by eight percent the following year. The leading consumer market for such products was China, accounting for nearly one third of global consumption.
