The statistic shows the audience share of Sanremo Music Festival's third night in Italy from 1987 to 2020. As of the survey period, the third night registering the highest audience share took place in 1987 reaching 67.5 percent of the audience. In 2020, the third night of the festival reached 54.5 percent of the audience. Started in 1951, the Sanremo Music Festival is currently the most popular Italian song competition. Held annually in the Italian city of Sanremo, in Liguria, the festival is broadcasted by RAI, the national public broadcasting company. The format of the Sanremo Music Festival was the main inspiration for the Eurovision Song Contest.
