This statistic displays the major factors health care professionals reported contributed to human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine underutilization in their practices in the U.S. as of May 2016. It was found that 71 percent of health care professionals reported that parents not perceiving their child to be at risk for acquiring a sexually transmitted infection (STI) was the main factor leading to the underutilization of the HPV vaccine in their practice.
