Italy: newspaper circulation 2000-2015
Between 2000 and 2015, the Italian printed newspapers have reached less readers. The number of newspapers in circulation dropped sharply, going from 5.8 million copies in 2000 to 2.9 million copies in 2015. This decreasing trend involved several publishers and newspapers editions. For instance, the local newspapers of GEDI group had an average circulation of 341.6 thousand copies per day in 2014 and 201 thousand copies as of the first half of 2017.

If we consider only the years from 2013 to 2017, financial newspaper Il Sole 14 ore has been the one losing the most paying readers, with a decrease of 57.3 percent of its circulation, ItaliaOggi followed with less 50 percent and La Repubblica ranked third with a circulation decreasing by 45.7 percent.
